In our last post, we shared a helpful resource about bonfire safety tips. In today’s post, we are focusing on another favorite summer activity…swimming! There is nothing better than going for a swim on a hot, summer day, but along with pools being open, there are also summer storms that pass through, so it is important to be prepared to keep your pool safe to use following a storm.

As we know, summer storms can, at times, bring lots of water in a quick amount of time. These are known as “flash floods” (Live PREPARED). The above video mentions the importance of preventing water levels from becoming too high, so that storms do not cause flooding to your pool and, in turn, your home. *Be aware of flood insurance
*Have an evacuation plan prepared
*Move items to above ground
*Turn off and disconnect electricity and gas valves
*Move to elevated ground

*Do not drive through flood water
*Clean gutters
*Ensure that doors and windows are sealed
