This article describes that lighting choices can influence the amount of energy used in your home or business and can even influence the amount you spend on electricity. A few facts from the article, “Lighting Choices to Save You Money,” and corresponding video, “Energy 101: Lighting Choices”:
– Lighting makes up about 10% of a typical household’s electricity bill (“Energy 101: Lighting Choices,” 1:19).
– There are many different energy efficient lightbulb options including: CFL, halogen incandescent, and LED (Energy.gov).
– Choosing energy efficient bulbs can help you save money because most use less energy and last longer than a typical bulb. For example, “ENERGY STAR-qualified LEDs use only 20-25% of
the energy and last up to 25 times longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs they replace” (Energy.gov). [Example shown above].
